Project description
The NanoIC project aims to fulfil the European Chips Act’s vision for leadership and competitiveness in advanced system-on-chip innovation.
Development of the sub 2nm technology modules for enhancing the performance of the current technology, through reshaping the transistor architecture and introduction of disruptive materials and process technology options. The main technologies to be developed need to be aligned with the advanced technology requirements expressed in international research roadmap(s) at device (logic, memory) and interconnect level. They should be performed through a strong interaction between the process and design teams to optimize the sub 2nm SoC performance, and to deliver the research PDKs for each developed technology and process modules to that effect. Systems-on-chip based on beyond-2nm logic nodes promise great opportunities for the European semiconductor industry.
Technologies targeted by the NanoIC PILOT LINE
1. Advanced logic (AL): NS, CFET and HNA EUV
2. Advanced memory (AM): SOT-MRAM, eDRAM and 3DDRAM
3. Advanced interconnect (IC): D2W, RDL and Laser
! UNSTPB participates in multiple activities in these 3 TECHNOLOGICAL directions
